Compatibility and Important Notices

Refer to Requirements for information on compatibility of the OneStream Studio and OneStream Excel Add-in versions.

Microsoft officially announced in 2012 that development of Silverlight will be discontinued with support ending in October 2021. The OneStream Windows Application replaced the Silverlight-based browser interface effective for all OneStream users in September 2021. OneStream no longer supports the Silverlight-based web browser interface. You can continue to access OneStream through our mobile application and the OneStream Excel Add-in.

OneStream version 5.3 was the last version to support the Windows 7 operating system. Windows 7 is no longer supported as a client operating system as of January 14, 2020, in line with Microsoft’s mainstream support policy.

OneStream 6.x will be the final release series that includes the OneStream Studio Client which is used for custom report development. After the 6.x series, future releases will eliminate the need to install Studio Client. Report designers will be required to use the Report Designer in the Dashboard Report Component feature.

Due to evolving regulatory requirements as well as new security vulnerabilities in TLS 1.0/1.1, OneStream recommends that customers remove TLS 1.0/1.1 dependencies in their environments and disable TLS 1.0 and 1.1 at the operating system level where possible. All client operating systems that use OneStream software and services must be set to support use of TLS 1.2. This includes any authentication endpoints being used for login to OneStream API’s as well as OneStream clients such as the Desktop client or Excel Add-In. Any connection attempts using TLS versions below TLS 1.2 will result in a failure to connect.

New Features

  • The help file UI is updated to include PDFs for both Platform and MarketPlace documentation. (PF1-4155)

  • The Manage System Security feature is a new set of System Security Roles that enables the OneStream Administrator to delegate the tasks of managing Users, Groups and Roles to non-administrators. The feature consists of three new roles which allow the design flexibility to segregate the System Security roles across distinct Groups or apply them collectively. (PF2-4872)

  • Task Scheduler Minute (Schedule) Run Window is a new option in OneStream that provides functionality that allows users to set their Minutes (Hourly) schedule with more granularity around the time in which the tasks are executed. (PF1-3988)

  • The new BRApi’s for Transformation Rule Groups and Rule Profile allow Business Rule writers the ability to change Transformation Rules via a BRApi with a specified security group. (PF1-4854)

  • Hybrid Scenarios where the Hybrid Source Data extends our engine by adding the ability to compose read-only filtered scenarios for a targeted view or report. This initiative will increase performance and modeling capabilities to support an even wider range of different model use cases. (PF1-4993)

  • Waterfall is a new chart type in the OneStream Chart (Advanced) Dashboard Component that will provide a new way to create a Waterfall chart with some additional new series settings. (PF1-4354)

  • Excel VBA Submit Data function, “SubmitSetXFFunctions”, is a new VBA XFfunction in OneStream that provides the ability for Excel-Addin users to submit data via XFSETCELL via an Excel Macro (or Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications - VBA).  (PF1-3948)

  • The Dimension Level property setting in the Cube View MD data adapter is a user-friendly interface that addresses the ability to display dimensional data in a column format to display as a hierarchy when using BI Viewer to enhance the user experience. (PF1-4355)

Enhancements

  • For the Task Scheduler functionality, a tooltip was added to the Calendar control task. (PF1-4771)

  • Added three method queries to the OneStream documentation: Direct Load Info, Stage Summary Target Data, and Workflow Lock History. (PF-16631)

  • Added the ability to use a business rule to read <= and >= expressions. (PF1-6110)

  • The Change Application process in OneStream will no longer log out users from their session. Users will be taken to the Connection screen and change applications without having to re-authenticate. (PF2-7157)

Fixed

  • Dashboard button text alignment now includes a Center option from the drop-down menu. When a button is created, the component can now align text within the buttons. The default remains as left justified. (PF1-3985)

  • Users can no longer access system pane items if they are not part of the administrators group and do not have the SystemPane security role. (PF2-4948)

  • Updated the TLS version to address related SonarQube vulnerability flags. (PF1-185)

  • Properly formatted XML files are now loaded correctly and information is added to the application. (PF1-3992)

  • Excel Add-In Find and Replace time to render is reduced. (PF1-5102)

  • Ability to delete a task in Task Scheduler using the “delete” key is enabled in the Database Table. (PF1-5107)

  • Cube View MD and Cube View Data Adapters return member aliases as defined in the Cube View definitions and the culture settings. (PF1-4985)

  • When System Security is extracted, the “Extract Unique IDs” property will now be selected as the system default to avoid extracting data without unique IDs in the export. It also prevents duplicates with security data across other environments. (PF2-192)

  • Find and Replace on 1000 rows or more no longer freezes Excel when the OneStream Excel add-in is enabled. (PF1-4379)

  • Scheduled Tasks are removed when using the PC Delete key. (PF1-4238)

  • Multi-select (SQL) Table Editor Clears Bound Parameter on SaveRetry (PF1-5205)

Known Issues

  • Customers upgrading from BI Blend version 5.3 using the old syntax of NotUsed;SSOnly must edit the BI-Blend Aggregation Control properties. The NotUsed parent placeholder must be substituted with Root, or a valid parent member; NotUsed;SSOnly to Root;SSOnly or as parentmember;SSOnly. (24481)

  • In Preferences > Culture, BI Viewer can crash when you change the culture from English. (22601)

  • In Dashboard studio designer, the data member does not display the data set fields tree on order to allow a section of a row. (22213)

  • Text wrapping will not work with a Cube View which uses Cube View Extender Rules. It causes Reports to incorrectly format data. (20635)

  • In Cube Views with nested expansions the Member Name and Description wraps when viewed as a report. (16083)

  • Non-Administrator Application Pool User Returns Errors for PerfLib and PerfNet When Recycling IIS and Background Intelligent Transfer Service When Using "Recycle App Pool". (14336)

  • If your security protocols do not allow use of the click once client and you use the desktop client to install, the first time the install is performed as a silent install. If you need to upgrade, uninstall does not work. There is a workaround. (11184)

  • The XFDox Builder may not correctly update Table of Contents page numbering when content is added. (10704)

  • Excel Extensible Documents may not retain the margin and print area formatting when assigned to a OneStream Book of reports. (9052)

  • To have SSL security configured between the OneStream Application and Web Servers, Application Pools must use a local administrator account rather than a domain account for On-Prem. (4603)

  • When navigating to a Linked Cube View, the drill-down feature may not properly open a source document. (3056)

  • The Report Preview may Error in a Cube Views that are Sharing Rows/Columns and they both have the same row or column names. (2651)
